Soneva to unveil new luxury resort in Maldives north


Development of a new luxury resort by Soneva Resorts & Residences is currently underway in Noonu atoll Medhufaru island in the north of Maldives.

Soneva Group’s chairman and CEO Sonu Shivdasani stated that their latest property, named Soneva Jani, is scheduled to open at the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017.

The chairman also revealed plans to establish a solar power system of one megawatt to produce clean energy in Soneva Jani, as part of Soneva’s ongoing endeavours towards eco-friendly tourism.



The new luxury resort in Medhufaru will feature 24 water villas and 32 beach villas constructed with sustainable materials.

The overwater villas will be accessible only via boat and offer views of sunrise or sunset based on their location. Each water villa will also feature a water slide, private pool, deck with lounging area, living area and dining sala among others.

Meanwhile, the beach villas all feature swimming pools, catamaran nets, spacious living area and open directly onto the beach.




Facilities at Soneva Jani also include spa, clubhouse, beach restaurant, cinema, water sports centre and a diving centre. The island is a 30-minute seaplane flight from Ibrahim Nasir International Airport, and 1-hour speedboat ride away from its sister resort, Soneva Fushi in Baa atoll.

Soneva Group is currently seeking staff for Soneva Jani to work in Finance, Human Resources, Front Office, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage Services, Engineering, Gardening and Spa.

Soneva Resorts & Residences was founded by Sonu and Eva Shivdasani, who introduced eco-friendly luxury tourism to the tourism industry with Soneva Fushi in the Maldives. The Group also operates Soneva Kiri in Thailand and the luxurious yacht, Soneva in Aqua.
